Paul J. Key, FRICS



Mr. Key is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors enhanced by over 30 years of post qualification experience, the last 21 years of which have been providing professional appraisal services in the Cayman Islands.He is also a member of the Chartered Insurance Institute progressing toward his Associate status.

Early career activities in the private and public sectors in the UK included settling of compensation claims and negotiating rating assessments in specialized industries, and public and private houses. As part of the British Government’s Valuation Service, he rose through the ranks to Deputy District Valuer, responsible for a professional staff of 15 employees.

In 1986 he was appointed Director of Lands and Survey with the Cayman Islands Government, and was responsible for real estate activities. As Chief Officer controlling a department of 30 professional and technical staff, he spearheaded the section responsible for the assessment and registration of commercial, leisure, and residential property transfers amounting to US$116 million in value.

Since 1988, Mr. Key has been fully engaged in the private sector of the Cayman Islands as a real estate appraiser, surveyor, and loss adjuster. His knowledge of the various real estate markets and sub-markets in the Cayman Islands is extensive and he is willing to share his knowledge with you.

James V. (Jim) Andrews MAI, MRICS


Mr. Andrews has been a designated MAI member of the Appraisal Institute since 1992, and became a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) in 2005.

He has experience in the field of valuation and property consultation since 1987 and in the Cayman Islands since 1997.

His education includes a Bachelor of Business Administration from Belmont University in Nashville Tennessee in 1985.

His valuation training through the Appraisal Institute began in 1987 and included over 240 hours of educational courses including topics from Appraisal Principals and Procedures to Capitalization Theory and Techniques, Case Studies in Valuation, Report Writing and Valuation Analysis, etc.

His practical experience began in 1987 with an appraisal firm in Nashville, Tennessee (U.S.A), valuing both residential and commercial real estate in the State of Tennessee, and also low-income housing projects nationwide in the U.S. In 1991 he moved to a firm in Charlotte, North Carolina and his specialty was the appraisal of institutional grade income properties (mostly Shopping Centers and Office Buildings) across the southeastern sections of the country.

Mr. Andrews has resided full time in Cayman since 1997, and began valuing property here full time in 1999. Assignments include the valuation and consultation regarding all types of real estate as well as damage/loss consulting. Most assignments are in the three Cayman Islands, however, assignments have taken him to various other Caribbean jurisdictions such as the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Turks and Caicos. These assignments are mostly luxury resort oriented properties such as villas for use with destination clubs and private residence clubs.

Continuing Education throughout the years and the quest for membership in the RICS has resulted in an expansion of his knowledge in the areas of construction (elemental cost estimating) and business valuation amongst others.
